Internet Mumpreneurs - Online Marketing Tips For Home & Internet Based Businesses

How To Nurture Your Online Business (even if you’re not a mum)

Are You Nurturing A Young Internet Millionaire?

By Leigh Hunt • Category: General Twitter, Lifestyle

I believe in fostering healthy attitudes towards money from an early age. I think it’s important to nurture creativity and entrepreneurial thinking in children, and show them the importance of developing their interests and passions, whatever they may be.

Indi, my beautiful 21 month old daughter, has an obsession with pens at the moment. Perhaps a pen review site could be in the making ;)

If you share my sentiment, you’ll find this video I stumbled across today today thanks to this hub. It’s about Ashley Qualls, a 17 year old Internet millionaire making 7 figures a year.

What are your thoughts/opinions on young entrepreneurs?

  1. This is a result of totally understanding your target market, and creating a product that they really want. Not what you think they want. Let’s hope she’ll be able to cope once her bubble bursts (meow).

  2. What a great video. It is inspiring to see someone like Ashley make a “hobby” in to something pretty major. And I liked to hear the point made about putting her profits back in the business, rather than spend it on gadgets and “stuff”. With that attitude, she will go far in what ever she does.

  3. As Alice has already said, Ashley really has her target market worked out by offering everything on the site for free but generates her income purelt from ad revenue.

    K.I.S.S. Love it!

  4. Thanks for that inspiring video. I like the lessons other readers of this blog have drawn from it. I’d say my biggest lesson is have fun–looks like she enjoys what she does!

  5. Hi Leigh,

Great video! I’m actually going through the entrepreneur life myself (www.thefdworld.com). I stepped away from my corporate job, moved back home with my mom, and am working 24/7 to build an amazing company. Hopefully everything pays off!

I must really compliment you on this site. I will definitely refer my mom to read this so that she understands what I’m going through. Whenever I get mentioned online in an article, my parents don’t seem to think its a big deal because they don’t understand the true potential of the internet. Thanks

  6. Thanks for your comment Jun.

Wishing you every success with your online venture. It looks really exciting. You should be very proud.

Will the site act as a social networking site, or are you selling software to create virtual communities for corporations? Either way, it looks like fun! :)

  7. It is wonderful to see young folks become creative entrepreneurs.
The key to life is be happy and do what you want to do, by pursuing
your passions. The younger one is in that pursuit the more complete
and whole their life will become.
