Internet Mumpreneurs - Online Marketing Tips For Home & Internet Based Businesses

How To Nurture Your Online Business (even if you’re not a mum)

Blog Networking

My aim with this website is to build a rich resource of information and support for work at home parents building businesses online.

As such, I want anybody that takes the time to contribute to this internet business resource to benefit in every way they can.

Apart from being part of a thriving community, I want you to benefit from the free back links you create to your website every time you comment on an article.

Here’s the thing. Blogs are generally set up with a ‘nofollow’ rule for comment links. This means the link does not carry any weight with Google. The link does not contribute to the search engine optimisation of your website.

(Note: Just for anyone that might not know. The more quality links you have to your website, the better you rank in the search engines.)

Whilst I can totally see why they created this rule (to stop link farms and unscrupulous spammers), I want the control over my own site thank you very much.

Therefore I’ve banned the ‘nofollow’ rule here, so all your links count.

I can’t make any guarantee, or warranties, or whatever about how much your links here will help your SEO. But I can say that your links count.

In fact, as a general link building strategy, do make a point of placing your links on sites that ban the ‘nofollow’ rule whenever you can.

But do choose who you link from carefully.

This is about building a network of rich content, not mind numbing spam.

The policy on Internet Mumpreneurs is that your comments must enrich the resource.

Comments that are obviously ONLY for SEO purposes won’t be published.

Besides, if you write an engaging comment, readers are going to be compelled to click on your link to find out more about you.

Blog networking at it’s best :)

But blog networking is not just about receiving clicks. It’s about giving too.

If you come across a blog or website that you like, link to it. Add the link to your blogroll, or website links page.

Give it some:

Link Love :)

It’s all about win-win-win situations. Let’s not feel guilty about wanting to win here!

Check out these wins!

Win 1 - Google searchers find a thriving and comprehensive resource when they come here.
Win 2 - Internet Mumpreneurs grows as a network as more and more people connect here.
Win 3 - You get some quality backs link to your site when you make a comment.

Here are a couple of recommendations when posting:

  1. Enter keywords in the ‘Name’ field on the comment form instead of your own name. You want to make sure that the phrase is meaningful to both human users and the search engines. e.g. ‘Children’s Gifts’. Important: Change the description every now and again (e.g. ‘Present for Children’). This widens the net, and reassures the search engines that your links are genuine. I should say that some blogs might not like you doing this, but you’re welcome to here.
  2. Always make sure that you write your name in the body of the comment. This way we’ll get to know you as more than just your business description!
  3. Ensure that your comments add value to the discussion.

Let’s show the likes of Google that you can have a cooperation on the Internet that is good for all :)
